🚧🚦Major Roadworks and Temporary Traffic Lights in Cannock Chase🚦🚧

Works in Cannock Chase and the surrounding area over the next 2 weeks – 1st February 2026 – Unless specified otherwise, all listed dates are in February

 

⛔️ Watling Street (A5), Bridgtown – Night Closures (9:00 pm until 6:00 am) from the 3rd of February until the 11th of February. Closed between Eastern Way (Orbital Islands) and Poplar Lane (Four Crosses). This closure is by Highways England for Maintenance Works.

⛔️ Hickling Road, Norton Canes – Closure between Norton Lane and Cley Road on the 3rd of February between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. This is for Severn Trent Water to replace or repair manhole frames and covers.

⛔️ Hazel Lane, Great Wyrley - Emergency Closure between Walsall Road (A34) and Gain’s Lane expected until the 4th of February for safety reasons due to flooding and hazard response.

⛔️ New Landywood Lane, Cheslyn Hay - Emergency Closure between Strawberry Lane and Long Lane expected until the 10th of February for safety reasons due to flooding and hazard response.

⛔️ Bridge Street, Bridgtown - Closure between Walsall Road (A34) and Union Street now expected to last until the 5th for Cadent Gas to replace a steel pipe with plastic pipe.

⛔️ Lane Closure on Church Street, Cannock – next to McDonalds, lane closure on the 3rd for Highway signage works.

⛔️ Old Penkridge Road, Cannock – Closure between Park Road / Dartmouth Road Mini Island and Kilmorie Road until the 28th of January for South Staffs Water to repair a leaking water main.

⛔️ Severns Road, Prospect Village/Burntwood – Closure from Swan Island to Chorley Road on the 5th and 6th of February for Highway Improvement Works by Staffordshire County Council.

⛔️ Armitage Road, Rugeley - Closure between Wheelhouse Road and Thompson Road on the 6th between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. This is for Severn Trent Water to replace or repair manhole frames and covers.

⛔️ Style Cop Road, Rugeley - Closure between Hednesford Road and Rugeley Road until the 3rd of February for South Staffs Water to install a new water main.

 

🚦 Hednesford Road, Heath Hayes – two-way lights, for an emergency permit, between The Coppice and Chapel Street 5th for an emergency gas repair by Cadent.

🚦 Hednesford Road, Heath Hayes – multi-way lights at Bank Street from the 9th until the 11th for Highway Investigation Works by Staffordshire County Council.

🚦 Hill Street, Keys Park Road and Hemlock Way Roundabout, Hednesford - multi-way lights 2nd until the 5th of February for Openreach to replace a box cover and Severn Trent Water to replace a defective manhole.

🚦 Keys Park Road, Wimblebury – two-way signals between Brickworks Road and Foxtail Way from the 9th until the 13th for telecommunication works.

🚦 Burntwood Road, Norton Canes – multi-way signals at various points along Burntwood Road from the 9th until the 13th. Lights will be setup each day at 9:30 am and will be took down at 2:00 pm to stop congestion during School drop off and collection times.

🚦 Old Hednesford Road, Hednesford – two-way signals, for an emergency permit, outside KFC, works are planned to fix the collapsed manhole cover on Tuesday the 3rd with Roadworks being removed on Wednesday the 4th as long as works are complete.

🚦 Walsall Road, Great Wyrley – multi-way signals between at Station Road on the 10th for Highway Improvement works by Staffordshire County Council.

🚦 Walsall Road, Bridgtown - two-way signals at Bridge Street until 5th for Cadent Gas to replace a steel pipe with a plastic pipe.

🚦 Broad Street, Bridgtown - multi-way signals between North Street and Cross Street from the 26th of January until the 6th of February for Cadent Gas to replace a steel pipe with a plastic pipe.

🚦 Stafford Road (A34), Cannock – two-way lights between Pye Green Road and Ringway / Beecroft Road from the 4th until the 6th for Highway Improvement works by Staffordshire County Council.

🚦 Gorsey Lane, Cannock – two-way between Oaks Drive and Hatherton Road from the 10th until the 12th for Cadent Gas to rectify multiple defects.

🚦 Cannock Road, Chadsmoor – two-way signals between Burgoyne Street and Kingsway from the 9th until the 13th for works to the pedestrian crossing.

🚦 Rugeley Road, Hednesford - multi-way lights at Uxbridge Street and Church Hill crossroads on the 3rd of February for repairs to Highway Signage.

🚦 Brindley Heath Road, Hednesford – multi-way signals at Bradbury Lane and Station Road crossroads until the 6th for Cadent to replace a steel pipe with plastic pipe.

🚦 Station Road, Hednesford – multi-way signals at Mount Street from the 5th until the 7th for BT Openreach to replace a cab.

🚦 Cotswold Road, Pye Green - multi-way signals at Bradbury Lane from the 4th until the 6th for Cadent to rectify defects.

🚦 Hednesford Road, Rugeley – multi-way signals at Style Cop Road from the 9th until the 27th for South Staffs Water to create a new service connection.

🚦 Sandy Lane, Rugeley – two-way signals near Lea Hall Club, overnight between 7:00 pm the 6th and 6:00 am on the 7th of February, this is for Severn Trent Water to do some remedial works.

🚦 Redbrook Lane, Brereton – multi-way signals at Talbot Road & Birch Lane from the 11th until the 13th telecommunication ducts to be installed.

🚦 Armitage Road, Rugeley – multi-way lights on the A51 & Rugeley Road Island from the 10th until the 13th. These lights will only be operational between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, this is for Highway Maintenance on the Island.

🚦 Armitage Road, Rugeley – two-way lights between Thompson Road and Buckmaster Way on the 9th for tree pruning works by Staffordshire County Council.

🚦 Penkridge Bank Road, Rugeley –multi-way lights at Slitting Mill Road, between the 2nd and 4th for various Highway Improvements and Repairs by Staffordshire County Council.

🚦 Wolseley Road, Rugeley – multi-way signals near Little Orchard on the 3rd for replacement of street furniture by Staffordshire County Council. We’ll also have two-way signals up near Albany Drive & Richardson Way on the 6th for Jetting of Gullies by Staffordshire County Council.

🚦 Eastern Bypass, Rugeley - two-way lights on the 6th of February, between Colton Road and Lichfield Road on the 6th of February for Jetting of Gullies by Staffordshire County Council.

✅ All information is correct at the time of posting (4:00 pm on Sunday, February 1st), but is subject to change, and additional work may be possible as information is taken from current permits. This list is also created manually so human errors can occur. Emergency works are permitted, even if they are not specifically listed, as they do not require advanced permits.
