🚧🚦Major Roadwors and Temporary Traffic Lights in Cannock Chasethe surrounding area over the next 2 weeks – 9th February 2026 – Unless specified otherwise, all listed dates are in February🚦🚧 


 

⛔️ Watling Street (A5), Bridgtown – Night Closures (9:00 pm until 6:00 am) from the 3rd of February until the 11th of February. Closed between Eastern Way (Orbital Islands) and Poplar Lane (Four Crosses). This closure is by Highways England for Maintenance Works. 

⛔️ Eastern Way, Cannock – Emergency Closure due to flooding, unfortunately the timeline for reopening this route has not yet been determined. 

⛔️ Church Road, Norton Canes – Closed between Norton Green Lane and Butts Lane from the 16th until the 24th for repairs to water pipework. 

⛔️ New Landywood Lane, Cheslyn Hay - Emergency Closure between Strawberry Lane and Long Lane expected until the 10th of February for safety reasons due to flooding and hazard response. 

⛔️ Old Penkridge Road, Cannock – Closure between Park Road / Dartmouth Road Mini Island and Kilmorie Road from the 9th until the 13th of January for Staffordshire County Council to investigate sinkage in the road/footway. 

⛔️ Moreton Street, Chadsmoor – Closure of the whole road from Cannock Road to Huntington Terrace Road for the Pothole Pro to come and fix some potholes from the 23rd until the 3rd of March. 

⛔️ Moss Road / Moss Street / Church Street / Burns Street, Chadsmoor – Various closures between the 16th and 20th for pothole repairs & pre surface dressing patching. 

⛔️ Sevens Road, Prospect Village/Burntwood – Closure from Hayfield Hill to Ironstone Road for the Pothole Pro to come and fix some potholes between the 10th and the 13th

 

🚦 Hednesford Road, Heath Hayes – two-way lights, between Bank Street and Stafford Street from the 16th until the 18th for South Staffs Water to repair a stop tap. 

🚦 Hednesford Road, Heath Hayes – multi-way lights at Bank Street from the 23rd until the 4th of March for works by National Grid. 

🚦 Keys Park Road, Wimblebury – two-way signals between Brickworks Road and Foxtail Way from the 9th until the 13th for telecommunication works. 

🚦 Burntwood Road, Norton Canes – various signals at various points along the road from the 9th until the 13th. This is for works to be done to streetlights along the road. 

🚦 Norton Road / Hednesford Road / Walsall Road, Norton Canes – various signals at various points along these roads from the 16th until the 19th. This is for works to be done to streetlights along the road. 

🚦 Broad Street, Bridgtown - multi-way signals between North Street and Cross Street from the 26th of January until the 13th of February for Cadent Gas to replace a steel pipe with a plastic pipe. 

🚦 Gorsey Lane, Cannock – two-way signals between Oaks Drive and Hatherton Road from the 10th until the 12th for Cadent Gas to rectify multiple defects. 

🚦 New Penkridge Road, Cannock – two-way signals between Dartmouth Road / Park Road mini-island and Kilmorie Road on the 20th to replace streetlights. 

🚦 Hednesford Road, Cannock – two-way signals between Pennine Drive and Barnard Way from the 16th until the 20th for works by National Grid. 

🚦 Stafford Road (A34), Cannock – multi-way signals between The Crescent and Cemetery Road on the 17th for Tree Pruning by Staffordshire County Council. 

🚦 Stafford Road (A34), Huntington – multi-way lights at Heathbank Drive on the 13th for M J Quinn to replace a frame and cover. 

🚦 Cannock Road (A34), Huntington / Pottal Pool – two-way signals between Pottal Pool Road and Buxtons on the 18th for Highway Ironwork Repairs by Staffordshire County Council. 

🚦 Cannock Road, Chadsmoor – two-way signals between Burgoyne Street and Kingsway from the 9th until the 13th for works to the pedestrian crossing. 

🚦 Rugeley Road, Hazel Slade - two-way lights between Rawnsley Road and Hazel Drive between the 16th and 20th for a new water connection from South Staffs Water. 

🚦 Hednesford Road, Rugeley – multi-way signals at Style Cop Road from the 9th until the 27th for South Staffs Water to create a new service connection. 

🚦 Redbrook Lane, Brereton – multi-way signals at Talbot Road & Birch Lane from the 11th until the 13th telecommunication ducts to be installed. 

🚦 Armitage Road, Rugeley – multi-way lights on the A51 & Rugeley Road Island from the 10th until the 13th. These lights will only be operational between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, this is for Highway Maintenance on the Island. 

🚦 Armitage Road, Rugeley – two-way lights between Thompson Road and Buckmaster Way on the 16th for tree pruning works by Staffordshire County Council. 

 

✅ All information is correct at the time of posting (6:00 pm on Monday, February 9st), but is subject to change, and additional work may be possible as information is taken from current permits. This list is also created manually so human errors can occur. Emergency works are permitted, even if they are not specifically listed, as they do not require advanced permits.
