Rugeley Residents Invited to Shape Town Centre’s Future

Cannock Chase District Council is launching a community consultation to gather ideas on revitalizing Rugeley town centre, with a special market stall event set for next week.
On Thursday, February 19, from 10am to 3pm, representatives from consultants JTP will staff the stall in Rugeley town centre on behalf of the council. Locals, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to drop by and share their thoughts on what they appreciate about the area, potential improvements, and desired developments.
The feedback collected will directly influence the long-term vision for the town centre, focusing on creating a more vibrant and appealing space. Councillor Maureen Freeman, the council’s portfolio leader for regeneration and high streets, emphasized the importance of community input.
“We want to collaborate with residents to craft a thriving future for Rugeley town centre,” she said. “Your perspectives are essential, and this event offers a real chance to guide upcoming projects. I urge everyone to participate and contribute to a town centre that matches local needs and dreams.”
An interactive map will be on display at the stall for attendees to explore, with a QR code available for ongoing online submissions afterward. The council aims to pinpoint priorities such as enhancing public areas, bolstering local shops, or adding new amenities.
This initiative is backed by funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which supports identifying challenges and opportunities in the area. JTP architects have been tasked with compiling public opinions to inform the strategy.
Residents can also access the interactive map and provide comments online at rugeleytown.jtpengages.co.uk. The council hopes for broad participation to ensure the plans reflect the community’s voice.
