Cllr Su Beardmore has been appointed as Staffordshire County Council’s new Cabinet Member for Children and Young People.

Cllr Beardmore joins the Cabinet as part of the Reform UK administration which has controlled Staffordshire County Council since May 2025, following the party’s major gains at the county elections.

She takes over responsibility for the Children and Young People portfolio from Cllr Nick Lakin, bringing a change to Reform UK’s senior team at County Buildings.

The portfolio covers some of the council’s most significant services, including children’s social care, education and support for children, young people and families across Staffordshire.

Her appointment means Cllr Beardsmore will now be directly involved in shaping the Reform UK administration’s approach to these services and tackling the financial and operational pressures facing children’s services.

She will work alongside Council Leader Martin Murray and fellow Cabinet members as the administration continues to set out and deliver its priorities for Staffordshire.
