Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder After Stabbing on Coach on M6 Toll

A 41-year-old man from Northumberland has been arrested following a shocking stabbing on a coach travelling along the M6 Toll this morning.


Staffordshire Police were called to the scene at around 8:15am on Sunday, February 15, after reports that a passenger had been stabbed in the shoulder.


The incident happened on the southbound carriageway of the M6 Toll between junctions T8 and T7, just south of Cannock.


The victim, a man, was rushed to hospital by ambulance. His condition is said to be stable, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.


A 41-year-old man from Northumberland was quickly arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody this afternoon.


The M6 Toll was closed for a short time while emergency services dealt with the incident and carried out initial investigations, causing some delays. The road has since fully reopened.


A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said:

“A 41-year-old man from Northumberland was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in custody. The M6 Toll was closed for a short time but has been re-opened.”


Police have not released further details about the victim or the circumstances leading up to the attack. Officers are continuing to investigate.
